About Mrs. M.

Yes … you may have noticed the name change!  I am now Mrs. M!  Jeff and I were married over the summer.  Our honeymoon was an adventure … for real … we drove 19 hours to Northern Ontario (just south of Armstrong, Ontario), caught an ancient float-plane, and flew to a cabin on Lake McKinley.  Talk about secluded!  No roads, no electricity … we had the only cabin on the lake!  We caught more than 350 walleye and a dozen or so northern.

A short autobiography for my new students:

I’m a SEK native, but left the area to become a Jayhawk and stayed away for 10 years.  I returned to SEK for 3 reasons:  1.  I wanted to be closer to family, 2.  the bass fishing is better down here, and 3.  I was offered the opportunity to teach at our school (a school I had always respected and admired when I attended a neighboring school).

If you’ve been to a spring sporting event, you’ve met Abicus … Abs, Abs, The Wonder Labs, most beautiful puppers in the whole wide world (Sing it with me!)  Abby is our black lab that we rescued from a shelter 2 years ago.  She has wormed her way into the center of our world.  I love that dog.  Call us crazy, but we added another puppers to the mix.  We adopted a 2nd lab puppy last summer … we call her Boo (inspired by the Mr. Boo Radley) and she has so much personality that I sometimes think she might need a therapist!  She is the smartest dog I have ever met.

Some of my favorties:  I Tivo Conan every night and watch it while I get ready in the morning.  My radio is ALWAYS tuned to the news.  I still miss Rob and Big … how dare they move on with their lives!  :)   My music tastes tend to go a bit punk and I like an alternative sound that doesn’t go too grunge.  But, there’s something about classic country (like Conway Twitty classic country) that makes me want to get in my truck and drive.  Blue Grass and Irish fiddles appeal to me as well (if anyone can get their hands on a Waterboys CD, I’d love to take a listen).  I love to read a good book, my world is right when I’ve got a novel to check into every night.  My favorite places to be are on a fishing boat, at my family’s farm, or on a walk with Abs and Boo.

I love my job; I believe I’m meant to be a teacher.  I’m very proud of our school and I truly look forward to walking into my classroom every day.
