ACT

All area colleges and universities require an ACT test score to be on your high school transcripts.

You can take the ACT as many times as you want in an effort to improve your scores.  Schools will always look at your best ACT score.  So, there is no harm in repeated scores.

Registration costs around $30.  If you get free or reduced lunch, our counselor, Mrs. W., has vouchers for you that covers the cost of the exam.

To register online, go to:  www.actstudent.org.  You need a school code to register online.  Use the code 172-585 to register.  You will also need a credit card number to register online.  SEE REGISTRATION DEADLINES BELOW.

To register via snail mail with a paper application, get an application packet from our counselor, Mrs. W.  You need a school code to register.  Use the code 172-585 to register.  You can pay by credit card or check.  WHEN YOU REGISTER VIA SNAIL MAIL, YOUR ENVELOPE MUST BE POSTMARKED BEFORE THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE.  See deadline information below.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES:  September 21 for the October 27 test.  November 2 for the December 8 test.  January 4 for the February 9 test.  March 7 for the April 12 test.  May 9 for the June 14 test.

The ACT will be given at our school on the following dates:  October 27, December 8, February 9, April 12, and June 14

GETTING PREPARED:  I have 2 copies of an ACT test prep booklet.  I will loan out 1 copy.  Our school library also has 2 copies of this booklet.  Both of those copies can be checked out by the library.  Also, see Mrs. W for more test prep materials.

GETTING PREPARED, PART II:  http://www.actstudent.org/sampletest/index.html  has practice test questions for each section (reading, math, english, science) of the ACT.

WANT TO PAY FOR TEST PREP?  For around $20 you can get access to online test prep materials at http://www.actstudent.org/onlineprep/index.html I have not seen these materials, but suspect them to be useful since they are part of the ACT official website.

http://www.actstudent.org/testprep/tips/index.html has tips for taking the ACT

http://www.actstudent.org/testprep/descriptions/index.html has a description of the ACT
